The beginning of the modern conflict was the large-scale Jewish immigration to Palestine in the late 19th century, after the establishment of the Zionist movement, and intensified with the creation of the modern State of Israel in 1948.

Before World War I, Palestine had been under the control of the Ottoman Empire for nearly 500 years. After the war, the area came under British rule as the “British Mandate of Palestine” included what is today Israel, Jordan, the West Bank and Gaza. Under the Mandate, Jewish immigration to Palestine increased. By 1931, 18 percent of the population of Palestine was Jews. Jewish immigration increased soon after the Nazis came to power in Germany, causing the Jewish population to double.

In response to Arab pressure, the British authorities greatly reduced the number of Jewish immigrants to Palestine, causing Jewish terrorism against the British. However; these restrictions remained in place until the end of the mandate, a period which coincided with the Nazi Holocaust and the flight of Jewish refugees from Europe. As a consequence, most Jewish entrants to Palestine were illegal, causing further tensions in the region. Following several failed attempts to solve the problem diplomatically, the British asked the newly formed United Nations for help. The result was the “two-state solution” of Israel and Palestine in 1947.

On May 14, 1948, Israel declared its independence and sovereignty. The next day, the Arab League reiterated their opposition to the UN. That day, the armies of Egypt, Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, and Iraq invaded the territory partitioned for Palestine, thus starting the 1948 Arab-Israeli War. The Israeli Defense Force repulsed the Arab nations, thus extending its borders beyond the original UN partition. By December 1948, Israel controlled most of the portion of Mandate Palestine west of the Jordan River. The remainder of the Mandate consisted of Jordan, the area that came to be called the West Bank (controlled by Jordan), and the Gaza Strip (controlled by Egypt). The War culminated with the signing of the 1949 Armistice Agreements between Israel and each of its Arab neighbors. This armistice line is the internationally recognized border of the state of Israel.

While David Ben Gurion, Israel’s first Prime Minister, had accepted a “two state solution”, he openly expressed a “partial” Jewish State was just a beginning. He planned “the organization of a powerful army and the use of Jewish coercion and force to absorb all the country’s extension”. Ben Gurion immediately went to work raising money and arms from American and European Jews. These efforts sustained Israel and initiated the deep anti-western emotions harbored by Arabs.

It is not just the suppression of certain news from our news media or the distortion of history by movies, books, articles, cable and TV. It is not the slanted editorials or the political leanings of one media source or the other that characterizes the opinion-manipulating techniques of our media. They exercise both subtlety and thoroughness in their management of the news and the entertainment that is presented to us.

Control of the media is nearly monolithic. All of the controlled media; television, radio, newspapers, magazines, books, motion pictures; they speak with a single voice, each reinforcing the other. Despite the appearance of variety, there is no real dissent, no alternative source of facts or ideas accessible to the great mass of people that might allow them to form opinions at odds with those the media presents.

Whenever you watch television, whenever you watch a local broadcasting station (via cable or a satellite dish); whenever you see a feature film in a theater or at home; whenever you listen to the radio or to recorded music; whenever you read a newspaper, book, or magazine;it is very likely that the information or entertainment you receive was produced and/or distributed by one of these mega-media companies and their management:

Hence, every bit of cable news we watch, is sourced from one of the above people. And, they all meet regularly to develop standards, acceptable sourcing, Associated Press channeling, broadcast methods, etc.

There is no difference from FOX, CNN. MSNBC, NBC, CBS or ABC. The same information (news) is just reported with a slightly different slant. We are made to think we get different information from different sources. We do not.

This all stems from the New York Times muckraking. Petty garbage. Make him pay the hundreds he owes in taxes and get out of the rent stabilized apartment. Fine, big deal. The guy has worked for peanuts as a dedicated public servant all his life, he is not even a millionaire!

I wonder, who are Kagan’s people? Will the American population, which is only 2% Jewish, be her people? She will become the second Jewish judge on the Supreme Court. The U.S. is a majority Protestant population that now has no representation on the nation’s highest court.

I do not think that I am one of Kagan’s people. I am not a Jew, I did not grow up in a wealthy Manhattan family, I did not attend Princeton or Harvard. In fact, 98% of the American people do not fall into any of these categories. The fact is, Kagan has led a secular Jewish life and she is not one of my peers.

It has become painfully clear the Obama administration cares more about where you went to school and less about what the average American needs and wants. It has also become clear that the Obama administration will make the important decisions for us. We just need to work, pay our taxes and shut-up.

Indeed, Goldman’s stock was trading around $171 a share by mid March – but with the ‘red flag warnings’ of the imminent Bear Stearns collapse, Goldman knew what was coming down the pike. Thus, Weinberg gave the order to sell:

On March 19, 2008 Jack Levy, Co-Chairman of Goldman’s Mergers & Acquisitions, sold 30,000 Goldman shares at $171.32 each, putting $5.14 million in Goldman’s coffers.

On March 19, 2008 Jon Winkelried, Goldman’s Co-President at the time (abrupt resignation), sold 20,000 Goldman shares at $173.78 each, putting $3.5 million back into Goldman’s vault.

On March 20, 2008 Marc Spilker, Head of Goldman’s Asset Management Division at the time (another abrupt resignation), sold 11,484 Goldman shares at $177.34 each, putting $2 million in Goldman coffers.

On March 24, 2008 David Solomon, Co-Head of Goldman’s Investment Banking Division, sold 4,202 Goldman shares at $183 each, generating $1.4 million for Goldman’s hoard.

By mid September 2008, Goldman stock was trading around $120 a share. BUT by October 2008, Goldman Sachs shares plunged to $49 a share. Of course these crafty fellows knew what was coming.

When Lehman Brothers filed for bankruptcy on September 15, 2008 along with the coinciding rescue of AIG, Goldman execs renewed their selling flurry:

On September 17, 2008 Jack Levy was at it again, selling 50,974 Goldman shares at $119.99 each, generating $6.1 million. Two days later, Levy sold 30,000 Goldman shares at $131.94 each, for another $4 million.

On September 17, 2008 Milton Berlinski, Vice Chairman of Mergers & Acquisitions, sold 100,000 shares, at $102.65, putting $10.3 million back into the Goldman vault. The next day, Berlinski sold 75,000 shares.

On September 17, 2008 Richard Friedman, Head of Goldman Sachs’ Principal Investments, sold 120,500 shares at $101.75 each. He sold another 25,000 shares the next day at $99.79 each. The following day he sold 100,000 shares at $138.49 each. In sum, Friedman sold around $29 million of his Goldman shares in the ‘panic’ following the collapse of Lehman.

Worried about hyperinflation, social unrest or even martial law, she and her Tea Party members joined a coalition, Friends for Liberty, that includes representatives from Glenn Beck’s 9/12 Project, the John Birch Society, and Oath Keepers, a new player in a resurgent militia movement.

Did a national health care debate make these people this nutty? What the hell has happened? It is bad enough when fringe groups like this start making noise, but when the Democratic Party starts falling apart, we need to be afraid. And, be aware, the Democratic Party is falling apart. Whats worse is that the Republican’s are becoming fanatical conservatives.

Moderates have their backs against the wall. What was so promising one year ago has become a nightmare.

Be Afraid….Be Very Afraid. Stand up and fight for moderation!

Our politicians borrow and spend our money with no regard. They give it away to the undeserving, buy votes and make themselves and their billionaire friends wealthy beyond belief. The level of corruption in both parties is staggering. In this case, they borrow so much from the Chinese that they have to negotiate our jobs away. The government and its support for organized labor, is mostly responsible for the failure of the auto industry in this country. The government and unions destroy the very companies that give us jobs. Our “leaders” make backdoor deals with countries who lend us money that was earned by selling cheap goods to the US condumer in the first place. They did it with the Japanese and now its the Chineses’ turn. They are selling us out and giving away out jobs and our childrens future.

Millions of jobs lost so that Walmart can sell cheap Chinese goods and make billions. And the politicians get their palms greased and turn away.

Our politicians talk about how we can fix this, but they do nothing but blame each other. They are more concerned about themselves and their wealthy constituates. They sit in their chairs, pose for the cameras and fiddle away the health and well being of our country.

Vote all the sons of bitches out.
